i have had alot of success with rat-l-trap fishing lures by bill lewis lures... they just have a sound and vibration that drives fish crazy... when combined with kayak fishing you get a deadly combination... trolling rat-l-traps with a kayak is even more deadly! in this video i go into how i troll rat-l-traps and for what kind of fish... hybrid stripper are a great fish to kayak troll for ... you will see in this video some pics of a nice haul of hybrid stripper caught one weekend on lake conroe texas.... we were trolling 1/2 oz and 1 full oz rat-l-traps over sand bar humps... everytime we made a pass around one of these humps, a rod doubled over... we were fishing around the walden subdivision area of lake conroe, close to the walden golf corse.... the hybrids on this lake get real active in the early spring... my neighbor and i would troll these baits untill we got several hits or hookups... we would then stop and cast rat-l-traps or soft plastics... locating fish with rat-l-traps is awesome.....
i brought a load of rat-l-traps to a resort in negril jamaica several years back... i used the resorts ocean kayak malibu two's... i started trolling out toward a distant island... not even 100 yards off the beach and BAM! a lizzard fish.... i caught several horse eyed jacks, blow fish, barracuda to name a few...
i also took some rat-l-traps to cancun mexico... we drove down to tulum and i found some flats... i started chuking a super small rat-l-trap and caught several look down fish! redfish, flounder, crappie, bass you name it, i have caught on this thing...
trolling this bait behind a kayak has become a favorite past time for me... i will never leave the dock with out a box full of rat-l-traps in my kayak.... my new hobie pro angler has a built in tackle well in the center of the boat... check out my yak'ntexas episode on "hobie pro angler tackle well loaded"... you will see somem of my rat-l-traps locked and loaded...
